Situated on the same lagoon as Cacela Velha but 5 km westwards. Cabanas is easily accessible by taxi or bus from Tavira. In winter, it is sleepy village but at other times transforms into a boisterous and ever expanding seaside resort. In Cabanas itself it's possible to swim, sail, water-ski, cycle, go walking, beachcoming, horseriding, shopping, eating, drinking or surfing the net. There are numerous reasonably priced restaurants and lots of bars and cafés within easy walking distance. There are 3 or 4 golf courses within easy reach. Benamor, a very popular golf course is the nearest, at just over 2kms. Transport links are good for Faro and the west Algarve, and Spain to the east. Buses and trains are all within 10 - 15 minutes walk from the centre of Cabanas. The trains leave from Conceição station, and the journey along the coast in either direction is very pleasant. Faro is a delightful place for an afternoon trip, or to change trains to reach Lisbon and the north of Portugal, and V S Real is a great place to shop, or ferry hop to Ayamonte, and the delights of Spain. |

| You can walk, swim or paddle on either side of the lagoon but boats from the jetty on the water front leave for the island every few minutes. Windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing lessons are available within Cabanas, and there is an old ostrich farm which now has a children's play facility. So overall, a great place to visit for families and couples alike. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
