Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo is the most important center of production for the Santa Catarina floor tiles, wall tiles and bricks. These are still made in the old traditional way.

This is a small traditional Portuguese town with the local market, co operative, bars and restaurant. There is also a monthly farmers market held here which is worth a visit.

  The mother church of Santa Catarina stands in the middle of the village square, with the school beside it.

This is a beautiful area at any time of year but Spring is particularly good with a landscape of hills and lots of green. Yellow flowers are everywhere, orange trees in abundance and of course the famous almond blossom gently falling from the trees in the breeze.
